Two Horse Patch

Levi’s Strauss in San Francisco underwent a redesign of their main gathering space, private dining room and main entrance. friend and creative director Bret Critchlow from juice design working along side gregory gordon 3d art director at Levi’s. They asked me to make 112 plates that created the mural of the infamous two horse patch on the back of levi’s denim jeans.

after two weeks of testing I came up with a Medium of Stoneware with manganese and iron. Glazed in Alabaster and Cobalt Carbonate.

slabs were hand raised on the wheel, hand carved design, brushed on glaze in oxidation firing.
